The first time I was in Lake Tahoe I (literally) cried secretly. I was so astounded by the magical beauty of the place that I could not help the emotions that it awakens in me. I stayed in Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort for three days during the ski season a year ago.

Now, I come back for another three days of stay on the same hotel and it is spring. Definitely, Lake Tahoe will never run out of great offerings for its visitors. Now, that the ski season is winding down another superb adventure awaits those who love- spring, fishing, running water and beautiful cool nights.

I don’t have the time to experience all of what Lake Tahoe has to offer this great summer. Yet, I have the greatest time in all my life. No wonder Lake Tahoe is one of America’s top spots fro 2nd homes. Almost everything is in Lake Tahoe so getting book in advance is an advantage. You don’t have to hop from one hotel to another to settle as you arrive from the airport.

And it is far too early to fish at the lake near Tahoe. So, I got engrossed with the activities around Tahoe. So, Tahoe nightlife would be one fantastic way of spending my nights after our conference at Hyatt. I would be watching one of Tahoe’s latest concerts. The concert of Dave Mason tomorrow May 9. The concert will be held at Crystal Bay Club’s Crown Room. You can also watch other hot concert of Rick derringer on May 10, Hot tuna with Jim Lauderdale on May 17. And the band Foreigner will play on May 24 and 25.

Dave Mason music did blend with the perfect scenery to create such divine experience. Dave Mason is an English singer songwriter, guitarist and musician. He first found fame with the band Traffic- a rock band. You should listen to Dave Mason song “Feeling Alright” it was recorded by traffic in 1960’s.

Lake Tahoe and Dave mason combination is one big bang to my senses. Lake Tahoe indeed again surpasses any tourist’s expectation. One beautiful place to stay and listen to great artists.

THERE are two things happening in the Lake Tahoe basin right now. It’s Super Tuesday in the California part and Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are in a neck-to-neck contest there. For the GOP part, it’s a sure shot for Sen. John McCain but former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has admittedly lots of fans there as well. While McCain is banking on his leadership experience both as a naval aviator and as a senator, Romney is banking on his economic experience. And one who can work well with the Federal Reserve’s Ben Bernanke harmoniously is certainly the one we need right now especially that the United States is in the brink of recession. The other things happening right now in Lake Tahoe are the snowstorms.

Everything will change on February 14. On February 14, the politicians are gone elsewhere in the remaining states which will be holding primaries and caucuses. February 14, 2008 is also part of the 40-day Lenten calendar for the Roman Catholics. But most importantly, the Christian world will celebrate St. Valentine’s Day on February 14 while the more secular lovers in the Western world will have a romantic evening on that day. Lake Tahoe is not an exception of course. As a winter haven all year long, Lake Tahoe has its share of lake houses, casinos, golf courses, and cruise yachts across the lake and snow skiing in the mountains. You can surely go to any of these pleasures when you spend your Valentines here in Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe though is not just the resorts lining up around the lake. Lake Tahoe is also the community surrounding the lake. South Lake Tahoe is located in California while the northern tip of the lake is in Nevada. If you find the price of the inns and hotels at Lake Tahoe itself too steep, then rent a place outside the resort community itself and into downtown. If you want to spend the Valentines here, there’s a floral shop at Winnebucca Avenue called Blake’s Floral Design. Here, you can have a bouquet of Valentines red roses for only a hundred bucks. That’s already reasonable to give to someone whom you would like to court on Valentines Day. But then again, there are also tulips, pink roses and lilies available.

There are also lots of restaurants downtown not just in Lake Tahoe (the Nevada side) but also in Reno as well. If you want your romantic partner to be constantly healthy, then bring her to a seafood restaurant. The ballpark cost is only about $60 per person or a total of $120 for both of you. So there you have it. You have already fished out $100 for the flowers plus another hundred bucks for the dinner and you only have shelled out $200 in proposing marriage to your girlfriend. For me, that’s already reasonable and romantic enough making Lake Tahoe an instrument of your romantic destiny.

BECAUSE of its reputation as the prime winter sports destination in North America, Lake Tahoe’s real estate sector has never been affected by the ongoing mortgage crisis in the United States. Encompassing Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe has a very wide array of cabins with a commanding view of the lake where you can experience sunrise and sunset over the horizon depending on which side of the lake you are in. These cabins by the lake are reminiscent of the one seen in the movie Lake House starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. There is definitely some surreal and lucid sense if you are renting a cabin by the shores of Lake Tahoe.

But Lake Tahoe is not just a winter destination. It is a year-round static cling and magnet for tourists not just in the Americas but all over the world. Even people in Europe who already have their winter destinations Alps and the Pyrenees as well as people from Japan and South Korea who also have their homegrown winter destinations regularly come to Lake Tahoe because they are simply amazed with its serenity and beauty. Even people from Utah which has the Sundance winter resort go to Lake Tahoe for a change. That is why Lake Tahoe oozes with activity all year round. Consider this – there will be a basin-wide snowfall come January 18 in Lake Tahoe and three resorts have joined hands to initiate the celebration – Diamond Peak, The Village Ski Loft and Hacienda de la Sierra. Of course, a party in Lake Tahoe is nothing without house music so the three resorts will be reining in Public Eye to bring the house down and rock on the crowd.

On January 19 is the full moon and a full moon in winter destination is really spectacular especially in Lake Tahoe. Again, everything is so surreal with nothing but the snowy slopes and the stars around you. It’s like having a romantic date with a medieval princess eloping in a one-night stand. And this month’s full moon show at Lake Tahoe is special because the government of Nepal will be showcasing its country.

And by the way, do you know that aside from casinos, golf courses, yacht and fishing cruises, there are already language schools located in Lake Tahoe? And they do not just offer English courses but they also offer Spanish courses. Conventional courses usually run for about six months but there are also short courses that are compressed into three days, two weekends or two to three months.

Another thing that you may be interested in Lake Tahoe is extreme skiing. Extreme skiing is indeed very exciting and there are a lot of skiing schools here in Lake Tahoe dedicated to the extreme skiing sport. In fact, skiing schools here are gearing up for the World Extreme Skiing Championships. So come here in Lake Tahoe and have a great time all year round in 2008.
